Visa Application Charges
From 1st July 2013, students will be able to get their medicals done even before lodging the student visa. The medicals are normally valid for 12 months and condition for students is to lodge visa application within 6 months of their medicals.
Advance Medical Test
Streamlined Visa Processing (SVP) is an initiative that was implemented on 24 March 2012. Under this initiative, DIAC will assess all student visa applicants who are eligible for SVP as though they were a low immigration risk. This reduces the amount of documentation required and the length of time it takes to issue the student visa.

The Department of Immigration and Citizenship’s Health Operation Centre (HOC) in Sydney is currently experiencing a global backlog in the assessment of medical examinations. Some reports, including follow-up medical reports, are taking longer to finalize and the current processing times are between 2 weeks to 4 months.
